I think this is the first thing all freshman need to come to a realization to right away: High school is most certainly NOT the best four years of your life. I know a lot of people say it is, but to be honest those people probably have miserable lives. I like to call those kinds of people past dwellers. They dwell in the past and reminiscence about good times. Sure these are good times, but they are in no way the BEST times. I assure you. It gets better. That should be encouraging to most people.
So take my advice, and just enjoy high school, but also realize that in about four years you're going to be out of that place making a future for yourself. You have the choice to make that future better than these four years.
Below I have conducted a list that I read in my most recent video. I've added a few here. I hope you enjoy them and find them helpful in someway. If you have any suggestions or comments feel free to let me know!
Advice to all the fresh-ladies (and possibly lads) out there:
- Arm yourself for battle--(I'm not suggesting violence here so don't get any mad ideas) You must choose/select appropriate gear for you hectic week to come. I think this is pretty self explanatory.
- Pick your spunky outfit out the day before-- A queen must always look her best when introducing herself to her subjects.
- Wake up nice and early-- about an hour before you have to leave for school is probably best.
- Get your much needed beauty sleep-- Scary people (zombies) don't easily make friends.
- Eat a nutritious and delicious breakfast-- i.e a smoothie, toast and eggs, oatmeal and milk, etc... also multivitamins, or some kind of daily vitamins are a good idea as it's really easy to get sick at school.
- Good posture-- As previously stated zombies don't really make friends.
- Make lunch the night before-- This way you can just grab it and throw it in your bag in the morning. Saves a lot of time.
- Dress to Impress-- Include your appropriate accessories (i.e headband and bag)
- Where comfortable (yet stylish) shoes-- You want to be cute of course, but you also probably don't want to be in a lot of pain. This is why I recommend ballet flats, or some other form of flats, over high heels. High heels might be cute, but they're not practical.
- Compare schedules with friends-- You probably want to know who has who in what class at what time. This way you can find your friends.
- Be friendly-- If you see someone alone who you've yet to become acquainted with, acquaint yourself. The most well liked people I know are probably the friendliest. They're people who may not necessarily be out going, but they're nice to everyone. It's better to be somewhat popular and well liked, then extremely popular and hated. Trust me. Popularity should never be your goal.
- Good hygiene-- Things you might want to consider carrying may include: deodorant, hand sanitizer, gum, etc...
- Be on top of your game-- other necessities may include: chap-stick, "lady products", a jacket, snacks, wallet, tissues, etc...
- Write everything down-- in memorable places. Notes in separate notebooks, and homework assignments in a planner.
- Learn your teachers's names-- Pronouncing their names right, might actually benefit you, so if you don't know just ask. Rather than butcher it. Also knowing the names of two or three peers around you is helpful, so you can have a few friends in each class.
- Have your song ready-- Sing it (in your head) when you need a pick me up. It might seem kind of dumb, but it actually kind of helps if you're not feeling your best.
Here's my video below if you don't like reading or you just want to see my face!
