A Night To Remember

UNTIL I'M OLD AND FORGET everything before last nights dinner, I guarantee I shall not forget the events that occurred last Saturday. How could I? Every girl cherishes prom. People who diss on the brilliance of prom are nothing more than cynics. Prom, despite the bad music and over heated dance floors, is nothing short of fun.

Now, that's not to say that it isn't slightly over rated. I mean, I'll be the first to say that I'd rather not dance to Nicki Minaj. I'm more of an eighties girl. I waited all night only to be disappointed that Come on Eileen was not played at least a hundred times. I felt robbed.

The other thing about prom is, unless you go with a date, you're not really supposed to have a great time. Prom is for corsage exchanging, slow dancing, and romancing. Lol, PSYCH. That's BS my friends. Truthfully most of the adults I've talked to can't even remember who they went to prom with. The ones that do remember usually say they went with their girl friends and had a blast. So go with your girl friends, and guy friends, and friends and have a blast! I went with a girl group for both Junior and Senior prom; I could not have imagined a better bunch to go with.

Now some of you are probably wondering about my dress. I've got to tell you. Between both Junior and Senior year if you added the price of the two dresses together they did not exceed thirty-seven dollars. That's right. The first year I got my dress at a vintage store in dowtown Portland. It was the exact color, length, and size I wanted. I expected it to be somewhere between fifty and seventy dollars. It was thirty-seven. I still have the price tag to prove. This year I spent exactly zero dollar on my dress. What? Yes. That's right. ZERO. How so? Well there is an annual event in Portland, Oregon called Abby's Closet. Basically it's a prom dress give away for high school girls.

It was there I found the dress of my dreams. I was aiming for a Grace Kelly in Blue Chiffon (To Catch a Thief) kind of look. The dress wasn't chiffon, but it was chif-fine. (I'll see myself out) It was a bright baby blue with an empire waisted beaded top. Thee dress of my dreams. I found a white shawl as well with flowers that I wore over this. It was very Grace Kelly-esque.

My shoes were shiny and silver and Franco Sarto. That's all I know. I LOVED them though, and they were super comfortable.

For my hair I went for a sixties glamour queen look. (I'm aware I mixed eras) I pinned the top of my hair up so that the ponytail appeared to be teased.

Makeup. I'm horrible with this kind of thing. For the base I used Macs sparkly paint pots. (a grayish color) Over that I had a very light blue eye shadow. (almost white, but not quite) and on top of that I had black eyeliner and mascara. I did put eye concealer on but not foundation. I wore a rosy-pink blush, and gold tinted lipstick. (Don't worry it wasn't Gaga extreme at all)

Makeup selection (Elf, Clinique, Mac, Clarons, etc...)

I don't own makeup setting spray. I wish I did, but I  wear such a minimal amount of makeup that I seldom have use for it. However, I did theatre in high school, and I still had my finishing powder. (I think it's supposed to prevent the makeup from wiping off) So I used that, and it worked. (I don't think I would recommend this though, because it could have been pure luck as far as I know)

For my jewels I kept it simple. I wore my moms earring that are somewhat hard to describe so I'll show a picture. (A picture has a lot more to say than I do apparently) They were a sea turquoise color. They changed according to light which was super cool.

The earring I wore (designer unknown to me)
And to conclude I must add that High School Musical has and will always be my inspiration for everything.

Portland Adventures and Saying Yes to the Dress!

SATURDAY A FRIEND AND I WENT TO PORTLAND, and we had a blast as one would naturally expect from a city like Portland. We spent hours shopping, eating, and walking around Hawthorne street. I recorded bits and pieces of our adventure for a video which will be provided below in case you don't want to take my word for it.

For Breakfast/Lunch we went to a quaint little restaurant/cafe called Cup and Saucer. It was probably the best thing ever. I got blueberries and vegan sausage as is tradition when I go almost anywhere in Portland.

Next stop was a record store which was a brief visit. I'm currently on the look out for the Alabama Shakes newest album sound and color. I didn't even see Boys and Girls there. I was so dissapointed. It was still a cool place however. I forgot to take pictures but they sold record players (cute/spiffy looking ones I might add) for around ninety-nine dollars. If you're into that.

Next major stop was Red Light. A vintage store that was beyond wicked. It was there, in that magical heavenly place, we found the dress of every girls dreams. It was a white tea length gown that looked as though it could be fresh off the set of "Funny Face." It was perfect. And not a penny more than 25 dollars. I couldn't believe our luck. So of course we bought it, and now we have Elaine's dress for Cinder-hella! If that doesn't make you the least bit excited I don't know what will.

I found Birdie's (Fairy Godmother) dress as well. I don't have pictures to share at the moment but keep your eyes peeled for it's release. I'd say the dress is right up there on the scale of spectacular-ness when it comes to awesome costume to pieces for this show.

The fundraiser is now currently thirty percent into it's overall goal. If you would like to help continue the success of this project then you can check out our Indiegogo page. ...Friday I'm in Love!!!

OH MY ABSOLUTE GOODNESS good things do happen on Friday. But good Friday might not be as great as you think it is. Bad joke. Anyway...here's a good not joke though, my campaign has been champagne ever since this very morning! No, I have not gone on a drinking binge. I'm not even old enough to drink. Legally. Oh God, what rut have I dug myself into this time...moving on?

Oh yes, my campaign. It's been grrreeat! I'm so stoked, and motivated as of this morning! I've received some VERY GENEROUS donations from some very generous individuals. I thought I was getting nowhere with this actually, and I was wondering how on earth, heaven, or hell I was going to raise a thousand dollars by the end of the month. Or for that matter anywhere close to a thousand dollars.

By the grace of God I'm getting somewhere now. Cinder-hella is doing Cinder-well-ah. I know. I could've done better than that, but what rhymes with Cinder? Tinder? Uh, no thanks.

As of now I have reached twenty percent of my goal. In less than a week. I think it's safe to say that I can get at least half of that goal, if not more by the end of the month.

This has been a Cinder-hella, Chloe-ella, update.

Now if you don't mind I must return to my mother's day card making. Also it's very nearly past my bedtime. Oh boy.

With all that, adieu.

My jokes have been real stale today.
Or are they always?
